Daystar: An Open Letter to Ministries Continuing in Partnership

Daystar Scandal
Dear Esteemed Pastors and Ministry Leaders,
In light of the recent and deeply troubling allegations against Daystar Television Network, including accusations of covering up sexual abuse and instances of recorded spiritual abuse, we, as members of the Christian community, are compelled to address you directly.
The Unbiblical, Immoral, and Arguably Illegal Firing of Jonathan Lamb
Jonathan Lamb, who was biblically and legally positioned to succeed as president of Daystar Television Network, was unfairly stripped of his rightful inheritance by his mother, Joni Lamb. President Marcus Lamb had explicitly outlined his wishes and established clear articles of succession, designating Jonathan as the president of Daystar following his mother’s tenure. This succession plan was not only a matter of family legacy but also a reflection of Marcus Lamb’s vision for the network’s future leadership.
How can one proceed with a ministry biblically and ethically when it functions in this manner?
The actions taken by Joni Lamb to remove Jonathan from his position, under circumstances involving allegations of performance issues and refusal to sign a nondisclosure agreement, raise serious questions about the morality, legality, and adherence to biblical principles of leadership transition within Daystar. The recordings clearly prove Jonathan was fired for not reading a comment praising the marriage between Joni Lamb and Doug Weiss.
The allegations against Daystar involve not just moral but spiritual accountability, challenging the very foundations on which our faith communities are built. We understand the complexities of media partnerships and the desire to spread the Gospel message broadly. However, we are concerned about the implications of maintaining or establishing a relationship with Daystar in this context.
Justification for Continued Association: We ask you to publicly justify your decision to remain associated with Daystar.
Specifically: How do you reconcile your ministry’s values with the serious allegations against Daystar’s leadership? Concealment of Sexual Assault on a four year old child should not be tolerated. Why have you not requested a thorough investigation from an outside neutral third party at the least?
What discussions have you had with Daystar regarding these allegations, and what assurances have you received about the network’s commitment to transparency and justice?
Steps Towards Righteousness:
We implore you to outline the concrete steps you have taken or plan to take to ensure that Daystar aligns with the righteous path expected of a Christian broadcasting network:
Have you demanded an independent investigation into the allegations of sexual abuse cover-up and spiritual abuse?
What measures have you put in place or advocated for to protect vulnerable individuals within Daystar’s sphere of influence?
Are there accountability mechanisms you’ve helped establish or support to ensure ethical leadership at Daystar?
How are you supporting victims or potential victims who might come forward, ensuring they receive the care and justice they deserve?
What reforms or changes in policy have you seen or pushed for at Daystar to prevent future occurrences of such grave allegations?
Are you okay with Joni Lamb firing her son Jonathan Lamb and his wife Suzy Lamb leaving them with absolutely nothing at all?
How are you justifying this?
A Call for Transparency and Action:
We believe in the power of transparency and the necessity for Christian leaders to stand firm on principles of justice, love, and truth. We urge you not only to address these questions but to act in ways that reflect these values:
Publicly state your position on these matters, not just for accountability but as a testament to your commitment to the Gospel’s integrity.
If necessary, reconsider your association until there is clear evidence of repentance, change, and adherence to biblical standards of righteousness.
Your response to this letter will not only guide many in their faith journey but also potentially influence the direction of Christian media towards greater accountability and integrity. We hope to hear from you soon, not with mere words but with actions that reflect the heart of our calling – to serve, to protect, and to lead with the love and justice Christ exemplified.
With sincere concern and hope for righteousness,
The Bride of Christ
Note: This letter reflects the collective concern based on public information and aims to foster dialogue and action towards healing and righteousness within the Christian community.
